What a wonderful day I had
interviewing Bernie Arbic and being shown the history of the locks during World War II by Paul Sabourin. I was
taken to the locks and toured the museum and given great details about the building of the McArthur Lock. Paul then
took me to the old Fort Brady which is now Lake Superior State University.

Paul is the history
curator for the Sault Saint Locks and dedicated his whole day to take and show me all the landmarks and information on the
building of the locks. He also gave me a lot of information on the once Fort Brady where our servicemen were stationed
during World War II in 1943. He then escorted us to Bernie Arbic's home for more information on the area at that
time.

Bernie had such
a great amount of information on the history of the lock and the Sault Saint Marie area. I really appreiciate him sharing
all of his information with me to help with the writing of Dead Lock.
